Arecord - unable to open slave [resolved]

the test script works fine but when I run arecord -d4 --rate=44000 /home/pi/test.wav manually I always get ‘unable to open slave’.

arecord -l returns:
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 0: sndrpigooglevoi [snd_rpi_googlevoicehat_soundcar], device 0: Google voiceHAT SoundCard HiFi voicehat-codec-0 [Google voiceHAT SoundCard HiFi voicehat-codec-0] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

how do I get arecord to work properly? I am on a Raspi Zero.

hello and welcome!

have you tried to run the command as root?

sudo arecord -d4 --rate=44000 /home/pi/test.wav

hi - thanks for responding - it actually turned out to be another issue - I am trying to get Rhasspy to work with Raspiaudio - any guidance for it?

I am seeing errors like these in Rhasspy (I know this is not the Rhasspy forum, but was hoping you might be able to help:

Sorry I have no experience with Rhasspy, but we have a Gassistpi that fully supports Raspiaudio:
