ESP MUSE LUXE speaker

Hi
I got muse luxe on the 7 may, flashed it with squeeze lite M16 every thing worked fine with LMS.

2 Days ago it stopped playing music and lost Wi-Fi connection and the LED on the top was off.

Re flashed with M16 flash was ok but web server 192.168.4.1 did not start and got the following log

tried loading esp32 media player flash, successful but did not connect to Wi-Fi

What is wrong with this speaker.
Thanks
Jacquot

Sorry for my bad English

Hi Jacquot
I suspect some data corruption of Squeezlite, it’s unlikely to be hardware related.

My suggestion is to go back to a working reference point to check if there is anything wrong with the hardware. Go to apps.raspiaudio.com and try to load the bluetooth app for the Luxe, play some music using your phone. If you have a doubt with the wifi you can also try the radio app.

I could also suggest you to erase all the memory using esptool

I could also suggest to install an old version of squeezelite using apps.raspiaudio.com then from the local web interface upgrade it to the last version.

One of this solution should work.

Hi
Yesterday I already erased the flash. Needed 3 attempt to be successful, but does not change any things.

Today trying again to erase the flash but same issue every time

I tried also under win 10 it doesn’t change anythings.

try a different cable, if this is not working send back your unit thru Amazon. To buy another one, it should be back on stock in 2 weeks.

Hi
I tried 3 cable and it’s the same result.
OK, I will send it back and order anew one.

By the way, regarding the Mn cast, would it be possible to listen MP3 streaming over WI-FI and send it over Bluetooth to a sound bar?

Thanks Jacquot

Hey, writing here to report similar behavior.

Already flashed squeezelite multiple times. For me the speaker has a lot of trouble on the Wifi. It keeps dropping and becomes unavailable.
I started to notice it when traversing through the house did not work, it seemed like the handover from one access point to another was just not working. After I turned it off for a bit and turned it on again it would not come back online for a long time. I tried just leaving it on all the time and letting it sit in the same place - like the smart speaker it is supposed to be. But eventually it still lost the connection and was not available anymore.

Any help is appreciated.

PS: Regardless, I would like to by more but it seems they are enitrely unavailable in my Region (Germany). On Amazon it is not even visible anymore

Hi and Welcome!
First it should be back in Germany a bit before the end of the month.

For the wifi drop, I dont know if the ESP32 can deal with AP handover or if it is a software level thing or protocol related. What could help could be to find you have the same issue with another app than Squeezelite to understand if it is a hardware thing.

So if you have time you could try the internet radio app to check if you have similar results

Hey, thank you! Also for the quick answer.

Great news about the stock! I’ll get my checkbook ready

Good idea. I will try that out. Although as I said it also happened when the Speaker was stationary and plugged in for an extended period of time. Still, this could be a similar issue if network topology changed which would have let to some kind of reconnect.

Hey hey,

so I had the radio firmware now running for a few days. Pretty much all day and moved around with it through the house.
Result: The connection is WAAAY better. No dropping of the WIFI as far as I can tell. If it does it seems like it’s quickly reconnecting. Also Handovers are working fine. The radio cuts out for a bit but that is expected. It resumes by itself without any issues.

So it seems this firmware has a much more stable WIFI connection.
