Hi everyone,
Our new CoreZero S3 is available now!
Recentely price of Raspberry PI skyrocked because of memory shortage and not every audio project needs a full Linux computer. CoreZero S3 is a compact ESP32-S3 controller in a Raspberry Pi Zero-style format, with a 40-pin connector for compatible RASPIAUDIO shields. The idea is simple: build a dedicated audio device without the cost and complexity of a complete Raspberry Pi setup.

Why use a microcontroller?
- A simpler, economical setup: the controller and external antenna cost EUR 26.99; audio shields are sold separately.
- Fast startup: dedicated firmware, without waiting for a Linux system to boot.
- A low-power approach: designed for compact, always-on projects without a full single-board computer.
- No microSD card or Linux installation: install the matching firmware from the RASPIAUDIO App Store using a compatible browser and USB data cable.
Startup time and power consumption depend on the firmware and connected hardware; we are not announcing fixed benchmark figures.

Digital Radio: an FM/DAB+ receiver without a Raspberry Pi
Combine CoreZero S3 with our Digital Radio for Raspberry Pi shield. FM and DAB+ reception with analog audio output have been tested, and the firmware provides a local web interface for controlling the radio.
Voice DSP+: a compact Home Assistant voice satellite
Pair it with Voice DSP+ to explore a dedicated ESPHome voice satellite. The ESP32 handles connectivity and the local wake word, while Voice DSP+ handles audio processing.
This integration is currently in beta, with final CoreZero hardware qualification pending. It requires a separate Home Assistant server and a configured Assist pipeline; CoreZero does not run Home Assistant OS.

Check compatibility before connecting
CoreZero S3 is not a universal replacement for every Raspberry Pi HAT or Linux application. Use the documented ESP32 pinout and matching firmware. GPIO logic is 3.3 V, and boards must be powered off before connecting them. Installing new firmware can erase existing settings.
