I got a Mn Cast and it’s working nicely - I like it a lot. I have it running the pre-installed squeezelite firmware (local-500.cmake-master) and I haven’t had any problems so far. I think the firmware is custom - clearly it’s not in the sequence of firmwares I can see on the update page - the ones from philippe44 and sle118.
Can I and should I update to one of those? And if I do, which one? I don’t have any specific reason to update at present but I know they are released to fix bugs which presumably I could hit so there might come a time when an update was required.
Any thoughts?
Hi, yes you can update it from apps.raspiaudio.com
But on the other hand you could also apply the wiser path “if it is not broken don’t try to fix it”

Yes thanks - good advice. But I was asking something a little different. The squeezelite firmware includes built-in functionality to update over the internet from the original authors at GitHub - sle118/squeezelite-esp32: ESP32 Music streaming based on Squeezelite. So I was asking if that functionality will work. And if it does, in what way is the raspiaudio firmware different to the sle118 firmware.
Also - the updating functionality in squeezelite allows you to directly download the .bin file and update from that. This would be better for me than using the USB connection since I had trouble getting that to work and it is not that convenient. But I can’t find the firmware file behind apps.raspiaudio.com. Is that directly available?
Looking at the commits in your repo and the merged PR on the sle118 one it looks to me like the MUSE firmwares on the sle118 site should now work fine. When I get a chance I’ll try the latest there.
